Dr. Gerard Abreo
Cardiac Consultation, Echocardiography, Transesophageal Echocardiography, and Stress-Echocardiography
Dr. Gerard Abreo graduated from St. John’s Medical College in Bangalore, India and completed an internship and residency in internal medicine at Cook County Hospital in Chicago, Illinois. After completing his residency, Dr. Abreo served as a fellow in the Division of Cardiology at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston and then accepted a position as Assistant Professor in the Division of Cardiology at the University of Texas. During his tenure at the university, Dr. Abreo published multiple academic articles and abstracts, including publications in the prestigious Journal of the American Medical Association and the Journal of the American College of Cardiology. He joined Southeast Houston Cardiology in 1999 and works predominantly in our Webster office. He consults with patients on a regular basis at the Clear Lake Regional Medical Center and Methodist St. John’s Hospital, and holds active board certification in internal medicine and cardiology.

Dr. Molham Aldeiri
Interventional Cardiology, Heart Failure and Transplant Cardiology, Echocardiography, Transesophageal Echocardiography, and Nuclear Cardiology
Dr. Aldeiri attended medical school at the University of Damascus before moving to Indianapolis to complete his initial residency in internal medicine. He then went on to complete an additional residency in advanced heart failure and transplant cardiology at UTMB, as well as fellowships with both UTMB and the University of Cincinnati. Dr. Aldeiri has worked in Clear Lake, Webster, and Pearland since 2017, and officially joined SEHC in the summer of 2019.

Dr. David Hamer
Invasive Cardiology, Pacemaker implantation, Implantable Loop Recorders, Echocardiography, Transesophageal Echocardiography, and Stress Echocardiography
Dr. Hamer began his career with an undergraduate degree from Columbia University. He then traveled across Manhattan to NYU’s medical school for his M.D., and completed his education with an internship and residency at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. Following his fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic, Dr. Hamer moved to Houston, where he founded SEHC in 1997.

Dr. Anna Marie Harkins
Cardiac Consultation, Echocardiography, Transesophageal Echocardiography, and Stress-Echocardiography
Dr. Anna Marie Harkins is a third generation Fort Worth Texan and a third generation female to graduate from Texas Christian University (TCU). Her first career was in Physical Chemistry. She earned a masters degree and PhD from Duke University in Physical Chemistry. She did postdoctoral research at M.I.T., Texas Woman’s University, Southwestern Medical School, and the University of California at San Francisco. Dr. Harkins then spent five years as a Systems Engineer with Ross Perot’s EDS. She then received her medical degree from North Texas University – TCOM in Fort Worth Texas. After a rotating internship in Dallas, she did an Internal Medicine residency at the University of Missouri in Kansas City followed by a fellowship in Cardiology at Baylor College of Medicine at the Methodist Hospital in Houston, Texas. Prior to joining Southeast Houston Cardiology, Dr. Harkins practiced Cardiology in Phoenix, AZ. for two years and subsequently ran her own office in Pasadena, Texas from 1989 until 2000. She consults with patients in the Pasadena Office and rounds on hospitalized patients at Bayshore Medical Center and Southeast Memorial Hospital.

Dr. Mary Mercado

A native Houstonian, Dr. Mercado graduated magna cum laude from UT San Antonio before obtaining her M.D. with honors from the Baylor College of Medicine. After serving as Chief Medical Resident during her residency at that same institution, Dr. Mercado returned to San Antonio, where she completed three years of specialized training in cardiovascular disease at UT’s Health Science Center. In 2008, she joined SEHC, where she continues to provide her patients with informed and compassionate care.

Dr. Baha Shabaneh
Invasive Cardiology, Pacemaker implantation, Implantable Loop Recorders, Echocardiography, Transesophageal Echocardiography, and Stress Echocardiography
After graduating from medical school in Amman, Jordan, Dr. Shabaneh completed both his internal medicine and cardiology training at East Tennessee State University. He then practiced both general and invasive cardiology in Clemson, South Carolina for five years before moving to Massachusetts to complete advanced training in interventional cardiology at Baystate Medical Center, an academic affiliate of the Tufts School of Medicine. After completing his fellowship with Tufts, Dr. Shabaneh undertook yet another endovascular fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine’s Texas Heart Institute. He then served as director of Clear Lake Regional’s Catheterization Laboratories for two years before joining Southeast Houston Cardiology. Consummately educated and holding board certifications in internal medicine, interventional cardiology, nuclear medicine and echocardiography, Dr. Shabeneh continues to serve his community and innovate within his field, even going so far as to publish a recent article in the Texas Heart Institute Journal detailing advances in the use of heart catheterizations inserted through the wrist.
